Thank you Mr. Medici!

If you think of the Medicis, one of the most important legacies of this family was the sponsorship of art and architecture in Florence. Some of the most famous sculptures and paintings from your art history class. Michealangelo’s David, Botticelli’s Birth of Venus.

Sculpture is everywhere!

Even people pretending to be sculptures.

My favorite is Silenus and young Bacchus at the Uffizi Gallery. The emotion is so strong.

How would you like this job?

Ponte Vecchio….home of the gold.

The Florence Cathedral is one of the largest cathedrals in Europe. The exterior is actually more impressive than the interior.

But the Baptistry is amazing. All done in mosaic, it is phenomenal!

The marble floor reflects the people who laid it…workers from Arabian countries.

The Baptistry doors

View from the Baptistry bell tower…what a hike!

Last but not least, yummy Florentine steak!
